All I'll Ever Need (AIEN) is actually the first song we started working on together back in Spring 2020. However, Black Box Signal wasn't formed yet. The song was originally titled Don't Be Late and was written in one session, but it had a completely different sound and overall concept than AIEN. Fast forward to 2022 after the formation of BBS and the release of Hope For Now, we opened this one back up and turned it inside out to completely revamp it. Some of the work from the original song like the arps, keys, and accent notes were carried over, but everything else was brand new. We re-wrote all of the lyrics to create a completely new idea about someone who brings you out of the lowest/darkest place in your life and puts you on the right track to home, which is coincidentally wherever they are. The strong drive created by the drum and bass grooves coupled with the intricate arps, keys, and guitar parts creates a very energetic atmosphere that will keep you engaged. The production of the song spanned several months via virtual sessions and a couple of in-person sessions. Given the number of layers this piece has, we knew it would be a beast to mix, but we wanted a challenge so we decided to mix it ourselves. After 2-3 months, we finally developed a mix we were happy with and felt was the best representation of our sound. Once the mix was done we shipped it off to Calbi/Fallone for final mastering touches (also mastered Hope For Now). Although this song went through many changes over the course of 2 years as we developed, we are very please with where it ended up and feel the final piece is a very accurate representation of where we want our sound to go.
